This type of orchestra is called a\u00a0 symphonic wind band or a wind symphony orchestra.<\/p><p>For more than 20 years,\u00a0 Michael Delman and I have collaborated. He and his orchestra premiered most of my compositions written for symphonic wind band. Mr. Delman himself conceived the theme of\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">some of my wind band compositions, including<\/span>\u00a0<em>Massada<\/em>, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pigovat.com\/wordpress\/wind-of-yemen\/\">Wind Of Yemen<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/pigovat.com\/wordpress\/symphonic_band_catalogue\/#exile_2006\">Exile<\/a><\/em>, and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/pigovat.com\/wordpress\/symphonic_band_catalogue\/#the_heroic_song_1998\">The Heroic Song<\/a><\/em>.<\/p><p><em>Massada<\/em> was the first piece that I composed for symphonic wind band. It was composed, and also performed for the first time, in 1997.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-id=\"69983a7\" elementor-clearfix\"><blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><em>Massada<\/em> (or <em>Masada<\/em>) is a fortress near the Dead Sea, whose defenders resisted the Romans for seven years and <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> then <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">committed suicide\u00a0rather than being\u00a0captured and enslaved by the Romans<\/span>.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section data-id=\"ebe1dc5\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ebe1dc5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default elementor-section elementor-clearfix\"><p>In 1999, Michael Delman and the Petah-Tikva Conservatoire Wind Orchestra performed the European premiere of <em>Massada<\/em> in the wind-orchestra competition in Zurich, Switzerland, where they won first prize in their category.<br \/>They also performed <em>Massada\u00a0<\/em>in\u00a0Festival Mid-Europe \u201999 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schladming-dachstein.at\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Schladming,<\/a> Austria.<\/p><p>Since then, <em>Massada<\/em> has been performed by various orchestras in Europe, the United States, and in South America, and several orchestras have recorded it.<\/p><p>The most important performances took place
